Radenko MILAKs Arbeiten wurden international in zahlreichen Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen gezeigt, darunter Haus am Lützowplatz (Berlin), MSU – Museum of Contemporary Art (Zagreb), Kunsthalle Darmstadt, Museum of Contemporary Art (Belgrad), Museum of Contemporary Art (Banja Luka), Künstlerhaus (Wien), Museum MORE (Gorssel), ALBERTINA Klosterneuburg, Marta Herford, Kunsthal Rotterdam, Ludwig Museum (Budapest), Museum Folkwang (Essen), Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Deichtorhallen (Hamburg), Belgrade City Museum, Collection Lambert (Avignon), Guangdong Museum of Art (Guangzhou), 56. October Salon (Belgrad), Boghossian Foundation (Brüssel), National Museum of Contemporary Art (Bukarest), Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina (Novi Sad), Kultur Forum Dresden, agnès b. (Paris) sowie Haus der Kunst (München).

Zudem nahm er an der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024, der Kochi-Muziris Biennale (Kerala), der Kampala Art Biennale und der 4. Internationalen Çanakkale Biennale teil.

Radenko MILAK was born in 1980 in Travnik (former Yugoslavia, now Bosnia and Herzegovina). From 1999 to 2003, he studied at the University of Banja Luka, followed by the University of Arts in Belgrade from 2003 to 2007. He lives and works in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
At the centre of Radenko MILAK’s artistic practice is an exploration of history and the mediation of images through various media. Drawing on photographs found on the internet, in print media, archives, and films, he primarily creates black-and-white watercolours and ink drawings, as well as animations and films. By translating photographic sources into other media, MILAK transforms their original visual language and opens up new perspectives on historical events and contemporary social developments. His deliberate restriction to black and white lends his works a particular visual intensity while also referencing the documentary aesthetics of the original photographic material. By removing familiar or forgotten images from their original contexts and reinterpreting them, MILAK questions the formation of collective memory and the role of images in the perception and construction of history.
Radenko MILAK’s works have been presented internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including Haus am Lützowplatz (Berlin), MSU – Museum of Contemporary Art (Zagreb), Kunsthalle Darmstadt, Museum of Contemporary Art (Belgrade), Museum of Contemporary Art (Banja Luka), Künstlerhaus (Vienna), Museum MORE (Gorssel), ALBERTINA Klosterneuburg, Marta Herford, Kunsthal Rotterdam, Ludwig Museum (Budapest), Museum Folkwang (Essen), Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, Deichtorhallen (Hamburg), Belgrade City Museum, Collection Lambert (Avignon), Guangdong Museum of Art (Guangzhou), 56th October Salon (Belgrade), Boghossian Foundation (Brussels), National Museum of Contemporary Art (Bucharest), Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina (Novi Sad), Kultur Forum Dresden, agnès b.
