Für Nancy SPERO, die seit 1972 ausschließlich Frauen darstellt, ist die Weltgeschichte eine Geschichte der Kriege und damit auch eine Geschichte der Frauen – eine Geschichte der Opfer sowie des Überlebens.
Permanente Wandfresken von Nancy SPERO entstanden in den USA (U-Bahn-Station Lincoln Centre in New York) und in Österreich: Ronachertheater Wien, Jüdisches Museum Wien, Conradkaserne Innsbruck. Ihre Werke sind in den wichtigsten Museen vertreten u.a.Whitney Museum of American Art, National Gallery of Canada, Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Nancy SPERO uses images of women from different eras and cultures, which she inserts into her collages as prototypes. She removes them from their original context and places them in new contexts. For Nancy SPERO, who has exclusively portrayed women since 1972, world history is a history of wars and therefore also a history of women – a history of sacrifice and survival.
Permanent wall frescoes by Nancy SPERO have been created in the USA (Lincoln Centre subway station in New York) and in Europe, three of them in Austria: Ronacher Theater Vienna, Jewish Museum Vienna and Conradkaserne Innsbruck.
