Cementipede ist eine vor Ort entstandene Sitz-Skulptur aus Beton, die
sich lebhaft und weich durch den Raum streckt. Als Wolke geformt, bietet
ihre 10m² große Oberfläche Bereiche für alle Körpergrößen /
Körperhaltungen / Körpersprachen – ohne vordefinierte Sitzpositionen.
Der Betrachter wird zum Benutzer und ist aufgefordert, sich ein
beliebiges Stück aus dem raumfüllenden Objekt schneiden zu lassen. Nur
so kann die Skulptur den Ausstellungsort verlassen.
Graulicht experimentiert seit 10 Jahren mit Beton. Die aktuellen
Arbeiten verdeutlichen, dass Beton in seinem formbaren Zustand eine
Flüssigkeit ist und nicht immer in rechteckige Schalungen gezwängt
werden will. Das Ergebnis sind Monolithe als Momentaufnahmen von
dynamischen Kräften, die durch das Medium Beton Gestalt annehmen. Im
Falle von Cementipede dient Beton als Mittel zum Zweck,
Benutzeroberflächen zu formen, deren Ausgangspunkt der Abdruck des
menschlichen Körpers ist.
Cementipede is a
seating sculpture made of concrete, created by hand in the gallery, which
stretches organically through the space. Formed as a cloud, its 10 m2
surface offers a place for all body dimensions, body positions and body
languages – without predefining sitting positions. The beholder becomes a user.
More, the object’s users are invited to have whatever section they choose cut
out of the room-filling object. Only in this way can the sculpture leave the
gallery, its place of exhibition.
Graulicht has been
experimenting with concrete for 10 years now. Their current works demonstrate
clearly that in its formable state concrete is a fluid, and that it does not
always want to be imprisoned in rectangular forms. This gives rise to monoliths
as snapshots of dynamic forces, each of them taking on its own form through the
material. Concrete becomes a means to an end for forming user surfaces – user
interfaces, if you will – which grow out of impressions of the human body.
