Heidi Harsieber's photographs catch the sensuality which comes along with vulnerability: physical gestures, the tone, and the angle, pointed out by the lighting, or as a hidden secret in the shadow. And: If you look at a photograph and discover a dark side, you want to know more about it.
“In the moment of the automatic shutter camera and body are being united. This quick moment shows that movement finds its gesture in a still image. The images do not show memories, they illustrate moments of action. A weightlessness of the body is being evoked: this body can sometimes be the female body in the male space. Brutal and wonderful in its exhibitedness the female body overcomes it. (…) Roland Barthes emphasized this view which turns against the technical and rational, to find the special in small deviations, just possible at that moment, as essential for photography.” Ferdinand Schmatz, 2009
