Text über den Künstler - English

Juergen Teller’s work in books, magazines and exhibitions is marked by his refusal to separate the commercial fashion commissions from his autobiographical work. His photographs have been published in influential international publications such as W Magazine, i-D and Purple and have been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions - most recently at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London (2013).

For the past fourteen years, Juergen Teller has been working with Marc Jacobs on his advertising campaigns which were collated in the book, Marc Jacobs Advertising 1998-2009 by Steidl. Juergen has also had long collaborations with other designers over the years, including Helmut Lang, Yves Saint Laurent, Vivienne Westwood and more recently, Celine. Teller has also photographed celebrities such as Victoria & David Beckham, Kurt Cobain, Bryan Ferry, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Elton John, Arnold Schwarzenegger and OJ Simpson for editorial commissions.

From October 2009 - September 2010, Juergen wrote a weekly column for the well-respected German magazine Die Zeit, where he presented a new photograph each week, which was accompanied by a written text about the image. These combined image text works were exhibited as a solo exhibition, ‘Texte und Bilder’ at the Christine Koenig Galerie, Vienna (2010), followed by the Moscow House of Photography, Russia and the Brukenthal Museum, Sibiu, in Romania (2011). This series has been published by Steidl as Pictures and Words, together with the collection of Die Zeit readers comments in the accompanying volume Literature.
